Hoofa’s latest single, ‘Alone’, is an ambient piece of indie-pop built around dreamy textures. While the distant vocals and catchy melodies might draw you in at first, the thing that really propels this tune forward is its explosive build-up. The mid-point switch to a grand, epic take on jangle-pop is an uplifting moment of goosebump-inducing power. Lyrically, ‘Alone’ touches on exactly what you expect; the emotions around trying to do things on your own. Hoofa have done anything but with this track, however, and enlisted the expert hand of mastering genius Barry Grint, turning it from a huge singalong track, into an audiophile’s dream. - Dan Peeke
